It’s safe to say my teeth are not my proudest feature. White teeth pretty much went out the window as soon as I started drinking coffee, and an accident where I knocked my front teeth out (yep.) pretty much reversed all the beautiful work my orthodontist did about 4 years after I got my braces off.

For the last few years, I’ve been on a quest to make myself proud of my teeth again. As an adult, I’ve become a lot more conscious of how they look, particularly in photos, and have noticed them becoming considerably more yellow than I would like. Now, I’m not about to stop drinking coffee any time soon, so I’ve been doing the rounds of tooth whitening products.

You might remember that a year or so ago I tried out and reviewed Doll White’s whitening strips. While these did work the best of anything I’ve tried, they are more on a temporary fix – you can’t use them forever, as it’s recommended that they’re used for a 2 week course. Also, where I chipped my teeth in the accident, I’m worried the product might not work on the filling-type composite material as well as it does on the natural tooth. Walking round with half stained, half white teeth is not the look I’m going for!

So, I tend to stick to more gradual options like toothpastes and mouthwashes, like the Oral B ones. I’d love to be able to afford the £500-plus to get them done professionally, but let’s face it, I’m saving to move out and tooth whitening is pretty far down on my list in the grand scheme of things! I saw the Oral B 3D White products on offer in Superdrug and figured why not give them a go.

I’d seen the ad on TV (you know, the one with Shakira) and am always a bit sceptical of what they’re claiming. I mean, no one even uses toothpaste on their toothbrush in them, for crying out loud! The packaging claims to remove “up to 100% of stains in 3 days”, a phrase I hate – “up to” could mean anything from 0% upwards, so in theory maybe it’ll only remove 1% of the yellowness. Ever the sceptic, as I say. Anyway, I wanted to try it out because this could be the one product that works.

The best thing to do here would be to show you a before and after picture, and although I’m not usually precious about what I share on here, my teeth are truly the one thing I’m the most self conscious of, and I’m not 100% up for sharing close ups of them. I know this is a review post and I should show the actual results but I hope you can understand the reasons behind my choice!

My experience with the product so far is pretty neutral, as I haven’t had the most noticeable results. They’re nice enough to use, and leave your mouth nice and fresh, however I haven’t seen a noticeable difference in the whiteness just yet. As I didn’t go into using the product with the highest expectations I’m not too disappointed, and this is another product to check off my never-ending list of whitening products to try, at least! Maybe I’ll just have to save up and go for the dentist treatment after all…

Have you found a whitening product that works? Please let me know, I’m desperate!
